Composite rankings from 247Sports listed the Michigan quarterback as the No. 1 prospect in the country for the 2025 recruiting class. Underwood, who had a major weight gain, initially committed to LSU before joining Michigan instead.

He reportedly received a name, image, and likeness contract offer worth roughly $10 million from the Wolverines. Now, social media thinks he might be headed elsewhere.

A parody account on X has social media buzzing. The account stated that Bryce Underwood is entertaining the transfer portal.

The account wrote, “BREAKING: Michigan freshman Bryce Underwood is expected to entertain the transfer portal as his true freshman season didn’t go as expected.”

The fake news fooled many fans.

Social media was completely fooled by the news that Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood was headed to the transfer portal.

“Man, just lock in and develop!!!” one confused fan wrote.

“$12M to throw for 63 yards against Ohio State and then hit the portal before Christmas. Modern CFB is undefeated 😂💀,” a second fan added.

“College football is a cesspool of greed and disloyalty,” a third person wrote.

The former five-star recruit did not quite meet expectations through his freshman season in Ann Arbor.

Underwood completed his 2025 regular season with 2,229 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also rushed for 325 yards and five touchdowns.

Michigan coach Sherrone Moore told reporters that he is considering potentially adding a quarterbacks coach to the staff.

“That’s something we’re definitely looking at, bringing in other people to help, bringing in another quarterback coach,” Moore said. “Something we’re working diligently on to get worked on.”

Michigan finished the year with a 9-3 record, earning No. 18 position in the final College Football Playoff rankings.
