Owl on 'The Masked Singer' season 14Owl on ‘The Masked Singer’ season 14

A new season of The Masked Singer means a fresh batch of celebrities hiding behind elaborate costumes—and a whole new round of wild guesses from viewers watching at home. With season 14 officially underway, fans are once again dissecting every lyric, prop and visual clue in hopes of figuring out who’s really under the mask.

This week’s episode featured five individual performances, with no head-to-head battles. Each masked singer took the stage solo, giving the panel—and the audience at home—a longer look at their vocals, movement and clue packages as the guessing game officially kicked into high gear.

The episode also welcomed Johnny Knoxville as a special guest, appearing to promote FOX’s new series Fear Factor: House of Fear, which debuts in the time slot immediately following The Masked Singer this week on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Who Is Owl on ‘The Masked Singer’?

Owl leaned fully into a spooky, swagger-filled persona, performing “Wild Thing” by The Troggs with a gritty delivery and a noticeable Southern twang.

Owl’s costume is dark and atmospheric, featuring oversized owl eyes, feathered textures, and woodland-inspired details that give the character an eerie, storybook quality. The overall look feels deliberately mysterious, matching the confessional tone of his clue package.

 Owl’s Clues So Far

Owl’s clue package focused on fame, backlash, reinvention and redemption:

“When I took flight, you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing my name.”
Said people began copying his look.
Admitted his biggest fear became people laughing at him, not with him.
Shifted focus toward family after public scrutiny.
“Eventually, life gave me the chance to do something so big those haters were all eating their words.”
A kite with a telescope attached.
Movie popcorn imagery.
Walking toward a cabin in the woods.
A reindeer appearing outside the cabin.

For the Knoxville challenge clue, Ken Jeong had to reach into a box full of large millipedes. The clue revealed was a single image: a goat—suggesting “G.O.A.T.” status.

 What the Panel Is Saying

Jeong pointed to the spyglass imagery and suggested Matthew McConaughey, citing his work on True Detective and calling him “the GOAT.”

Robin Thicke noted the performer’s Southern tone, saying Owl clearly sounds like someone from the South.

Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg connected the popcorn to movie superstardom and the reindeer to Bad Santa, guessing Billy Bob Thornton.

Our Early Theory

We were on the same page as Jenny—between the Southern drawl, the reindeer imagery, the cabin-in-the-woods vibe and the gritty vocal delivery, Billy Bob Thornton was the name we wrote down before the panel even got to make their guesses. The clues align cleanly with his career arc—from early fame and backlash to later critical respect—and the voice sounds strikingly familiar.
