Bad Bunny paid tribute.
There was special meaning behind Bad Bunny’s outfit at the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The 31-year-old, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, headlined the Halftime Show after the Seahawks and Patriots left the field. He made his entrance wearing all white, donning a No. 64 football jersey with the name Ocasio on the back.
It was safe to assume that the name was representative of the artist himself. However, the NFL’s PR head, Brian McCarthy, has since revealed that this was actually a tribute.
“Bad Bunny paid homage to his uncle who played football by wearing his #64,” McCarthy wrote in a tweet.
The league office rep also offered some background on the use of the striped football.
“And thanks to his desire to use an old NFL ball that had white stripes, I learned from @ProFootballHOF that when the white ball was banned in ‘56, a ball w/ stripes was used for night games until ‘76,” he added.

Bad Bunny was expected to wear a dress during his performance, thanks to viral claims circulating ahead of Super Bowl 60. However, that did not turn out to be the case.
Radar Online reported speaking with one of Ocasio’s stylists, who said he planned to wear female clothing as a political statement.
“The NFL has no idea what’s coming. Zero. Let them complain,” the source was quoted as saying. “The dress is already being sewn.”
We’ll probably never know whether that dress was put together.
