THE TRAITORS has led fans to believe that the cast lives like royalty inside a hauntingly gorgeous Scottish castle, but the truth is far less glamorous, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

While viewers at home picture candlelit corridors and sleepless nights inside a medieval fortress, the mundane reality is actually filled with fluorescent hotel hallways, locked doors, and strict isolation.

Production sources have exclusively told The U.S. Sun that stars of the Peacock hit series actually stay at a Courtyard by Marriott just outside the Inverness Airport in Scotland, roughly a 40-minute drive from Ardross Castle, where filming takes place.

“It’s just a normal, lower-star, affordable chain hotel that’s walking distance to the airport everyone flies into,” one insider said of the Marriott, which is used for both the UK and US versions of the show.

“People would be shocked if they knew. Everyone assumes they’re treated like royalty inside the castle, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“All the stars, including the glamorous Housewives and the wealthy public figures, are all forced to stay at the same hotel.”

While the price of the affordable hotel varies, on average, it costs just $70 per night and was selected not for its luxury, but for its logistics.

“It’s the closest option that’s big enough to house the cast and crew,” the source explained.

“And it allows production to keep contestants completely separated from each other when cameras are down.”

Despite what viewers are led to believe, The Traitors contestants never actually sleep at the iconic castle, even though the show strongly suggests they do.

“The cast is required to keep up the illusion that they stay there,” the insider said.

“But once filming wraps for the night, they’re driven straight back to the hotel in separate cars.”

In the UK version of The Traitors, producers are legally prohibited from misleading viewers about where contestants are housed, which is why the British series is transparent about hotel accommodations.

“The U.S. version doesn’t have that restriction,” the source revealed. “So they just pretend the contestants sleep at the castle for the aesthetic.”

And that’s not the only on-screen illusion producers perform to trick the viewers.

Fans may recognize the eerie turret where the Traitors secretly meet each night, but insiders say it’s not actually part of Ardross Castle at all.

“That turret is a TV set production built closer to the hotel. It’s designed to look like it’s attached to the castle, but it’s not,” the insider spilled.

The clever setup allows Traitors to attend late-night meetings without raising suspicion among Faithfuls – and without requiring long nighttime travel back to the castle grounds.

Instead of sleeping beneath stone turrets and crystal chandeliers, the contestants are shuttled nightly to a humble $70-a-night airport hotel miles away from all the action.

“It’s all about controlling what the cast sees and when,” the insider said. “Everything is carefully staged.”

“It’s riches to rags. On-screen it’s fantasy. Off-screen, it’s just reality TV logistics.”

And for fans who believed the castle magic never stopped?

“That’s what the show wants. The illusion is part of the game.”

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, CBS gamers were the biggest targets of the season premiere and Big Brother winner Ian Terry was the first contestant to be murdered.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Porsha Williams was the first person to be banished at the roundtable, and Donna followed suit by being sent home the next day.
