STARS of The Traitors have been warned that they’ll be booted from the show ‘without hesitation’ if they break a single one of NBC Universal’s rules – and the list of strict orders they must follow is far more intense than viewers realize.

From total communication blackouts to a secret transportation system designed to protect Traitors’ identities, insiders say the hit Peacock series runs like a “pressure-cooker experiment” behind the scenes.

Production sources exclusively told The U.S. Sun that cast members on The Traitors are placed under a tightly controlled lockdown from even before filming begins – with zero tolerance for rule-breaking.

“Producers don’t mess around,” one insider spilled, adding: “If someone slips up, they’re gone. No warnings.”

Among the most rigid restrictions? A total ban on smoking – including vaping – and absolutely no drug use of any kind.

Alcohol consumption is also carefully monitored, with contestants typically limited to roughly two drinks per day, though the exact amount can vary.

Cast members are also cut off from the outside world entirely when they book a stay in host Alan Cumming‘s Scottish castle.

“They’re not allowed to have their phones, Apple Watches, or any smart devices.

“There’s no internet access at all. Producers want to fully control the environment and keep everyone under pressure,” the source claimed.

Even off-camera, the rules continue as contestants are strictly forbidden from talking strategy when the production crew isn’t rolling.

Another major rule that must be followed? Players are not allowed to interact with each other at their hotel.

While the show portrays contestants sleeping inside Ardross Castle, a historic 19th-century Scottish baronial estate in the Highlands, the reality is far different.

“They actually stay in separate hotel rooms near the airport. They’re completely sequestered – no hanging out, no chatting in the halls.

“And they have to keep up the illusion that they sleep at the castle,” the source spilled.

Perhaps the most intense security measures are reserved for protecting the identities of the Traitors themselves.

According to the source, Traitors are absolutely forbidden from revealing their role to Faithfuls — and production goes to extreme lengths to prevent accidental giveaways.

Multiple vehicles are used to transport the cast to and from the castle each day, with staggered departure times thoroughly planned to avoid any mistakes.

If a Traitor is selected for a secret mission or late-night meeting, their vehicle will peel off down a separate road back to the castle while the others head to the hotel.

“The timing is very calculated. They don’t want anyone realizing who’s in which car or where they’re going. That would blow the entire game,” the insider said.

And once filming wraps, the secrecy doesn’t end.

Contestants are prohibited from discussing the outcome of the game with anyone – including their own families, leaving results completely locked down until the show airs.

“They can’t tell a soul,” the source added. “Not their spouse, not their kids, not their best friend. Everything is airtight.”

With strict enforcement, constant surveillance, and zero room for mistakes, insiders say The Traitors isn’t just a reality show – it’s a test.

And for those who can’t follow the show’s biggest rules?

“They’re kicked off immediately,” the insider warned. “No hesitation.”

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, cast feuds from this season stirred up the drama behind-the-scenes.

However, the contestants weren’t the only ones caught up in drama as producers behind-the-scenes are at war over a Season 4 twist that garnered massive backlash from fans.

Viewers were furious about the secret Traitor twist that many raged “ruined the game” and the lack of experienced gamers they chose to be in power positions.

New episodes of The Traitors drop on Thursdays at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on Peacock.
