The Voice consistently beats other shows, including American Idol, in the ratings. But fans of the NBC singing competition are completely disappointed in this season. One viewer called it a “clown show,” one of many bad reviews for Season 28. Keep reading to find out why fans think it’s the worst season yet.
The Voice Called A ‘Clown Show’ By Fans
Season 28 of The Voice has a lineup of extremely successful coaches. Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Reba McEntire are this season’s coaches. The season started with almost 50 aspiring singers. The coaches narrowed it down to 12 contestants per team. After weeks of shocking eliminations, the season finale is coming up fast.

On this week’s episode, Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé chose a member of their teams to go to the finals. Team Bublé chose Jazz McKenzie. Aubrey Nicole, from Littlestown, Pennsylvania, represents Team Reba. The other coaches choose next week, PEOPLE magazine recapped.
The ratings for Season 28 of The Voice haven’t been terrible, but definitely lower than previous seasons. One fan took to social media to express their frustration with the current season. “My goodness the producers and judges have sold this season – done with this clown show,” they wrote.
They weren’t alone in thinking this season is just overall bad.
Poor Reviews Are Brutal
One of the biggest complaints about Season 28 is a surprising format change. Many of the performances aren’t shown in full, if at all. Viewers also complain that they haven’t gotten the chance to get to know the contestants personally because of all the filler.
Fans of The Voice took to social media to vent about the disappointing season. Check out some of the top comments:
“As a longtime fan of The Voice, I have to say that it’s afar cry from its glory days”
“The length of time between the performances we see is extra bad this year. But the format doesn’t allow us to see most of the contestants very much”
“What could’ve been one of their best seasons has turned out to be the worst”
“It feels like there’s a lot of production interference designed to hand the w to one particular coach.”
Fans Worry Season 29 Will Be Worse
The Voice doesn’t have to worry about cancellation after a letdown season. NBC already renewed the show for Season 29. The Battle of Champions season filmed at the same time as Season 28. However, it won’t air until 2026. The network brought in the big guns for the special season.
Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend return as coaches in a shocking three-coach format. Unfortunately, the next season already got off on the wrong foot. Fans do not understand how The Voice can do a champion’s season without Blake Shelton, the coach who has won the most seasons. He left the show in 2023 to focus on his career and other opportunities. He launched a CBS singing competition, The Road, this fall on CBS.
The Voice Season 28 finale airs on Monday, December 15, and Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Tell us in the comments what you think about this season.
