Tim Curry’s Final Details Confirmed A Week After Rocky Horror Star Died At 80
Tim Curry, beloved star of Rocky Horror Picture Show, died on August 25th at age 80. His cause of death has been confirmed as coronary artery disease, according to official documents obtained by People Magazine from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Tim Curry’s death has been attributed to coronary artery disease.
The paperwork, issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, listed two additional “significant conditions” that played a role in his passing at age 80.
A previous stroke and kidney cancer were noted as contributing factors, though neither was identified as the primary cause of death.
The magazine further disclosed that no surgical interventions were undertaken for the coronary artery disease, kidney cancer, or stroke. Tim passed away “peacefully” at his Toluca Lake residence in Los Angeles on August 25th at 11:18pm.

Tim had suffered a stroke in 2012, which left him wheelchair-bound and unable to walk. In a 2025 interview, he shared: “I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting. So I won’t be singing and I won’t be dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg.”
He went on to describe the incident: “I was having a massage at the time, and I didn’t even actually notice anything, but the guy who was doing the massage said, ‘I’m worried about you, I want to call an ambulance’.”
A statement issued by his representatives last week expressed: “Across five decades, he moved fluidly between comedy, horror, drama, and music, delighting himself and his legion of fans with his countless dynamic personas.

“Few actors can claim to have left as many distinct fingerprints on pop culture – and though he suffered a debilitating stroke in 2012, he continued adding to his achievements as an artist and, most recently, a writer.
“Though widely known for his inimitable, flamboyant characters and colorful stage performances, his greatest legacies to those who knew him were his curious, expansive mind and generous, gentle heart, both of which remained open and filled with anticipation until his final breath.”
