Travis Hunter hasn’t even finished unpacking in Jacksonville, and already the heat is rising. The former Colorado star, fresh off earning his degree on May 8, has barely stretched his legs in the Florida humidity before the internet lit up with opinions. A few rookie minicamp reps, a couple of wobbly routes, and boom, the football world has a new debate.

Video clips from those early reps show Hunter stumbling slightly out of his breaks and catching passes against his chest, a technique that raised more than a few eyebrows. In addition to that, he wasn’t wearing gloves during the drills, and social media jumped at the chance to dissect every step. Suddenly, a few rough reps in shorts and no pads became a referendum on his future.

The reaction online was swift, and not exactly generous. Some fans took the clips as proof that Hunter’s receiving skills aren’t as polished as advertised.

One user declared, “Seems like generational talent hit a speed bump, my G. Sometimes hype outpaces reality, huh?”

Another chimed in with a theory: “We all know he is a better DB than a WR.”

But not everyone was ready to jump ship. A few fans pushed back on the criticism, pointing out the overreaction. “What’s wrong with the first route?” one fan asked.

Another joked, “That grass just can’t keep up with him,” hinting at his quick-twitch movement.

Inside the Jaguars’ building, there’s no panic. If anything, the reports paint a very different picture. Executive VP Tony Boselli praised Hunter’s mindset and work ethic during a segment on NFL Network. “He’s exceeded my expectations,” Boselli said. “It’s the person that I’m most enamored with… the leadership, the energy, the tireless work.”

Hunter plans to keep playing both wide receiver and cornerback, a challenge few have pulled off at the NFL level. His college production, including a top-two coverage grade among rookie corners per Pro Football Focus, suggests he’s got the tools. The adjustment may take time. But from the inside looking out, the Jaguars see a player worth betting on.

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is not the most popular guy on TV. That much was apparent while he was calling the Wild Card game between the Broncos and Bills for CBS on Sunday.

Romo, who has done very little to hide how much he admires Buffalo QB Josh Allen, had some praise for the MVP favorite while he was attempting to take his team to the Divisional Round.

Some fans felt like he was being overly gracious, while some simply couldn’t stand him talking in general.

“STFU AGAIN ROMO!!!!!!!!! I’M TIRED OF YOUR BILLS AND CHIEFS GLAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU’RE SICKENING ASF!!!!!!!!!!” an X user wrote.

“Can we start a petition to ban Romo from calling games,” another asked.

“Can Tony Romo get off his kneees for Josh Allen?” someone else chimed in.

“Tv muted when romo starts talking,” a fan claimed.

Tony Romo’s Partner Reached Impressive Milestone

While Romo was getting slammed, his broadcast colleague touched an impressive milestone.

Jim Nantz has been with CBS for over 40 years and reached his 500th game with the network calling Sunday’s fixture.

Nantz and Romo have been working together for seven of those 40 years.
