The couple made the huge announcement on Tuesday, but now, the Chiefs star’s father has revealed when his son actually proposed.

In an interview with News 5’s John Kosich, Kelce’s father, Ed, revealed the proposal took place two weeks ago at Travis’ home.

“Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” Ed Kelce told News 5 Cleveland on Tuesday.

“He was going to put it off ’til this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off ’til this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.

“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”

Ed said Swift’s father, Scott Swift, was telling Travis Kelce the exact same thing.

Once the special day finally arrived, Travis proposed in a garden at his home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’… they got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” Ed Kelce said.

“They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”

The occasion was such a huge event that even President Donald Trump had nothing but good things to say about both of them. As we all know, he has had a beef with Swift since the last election cycle.

Ed Kelce said he was at Philadelphia Eagles practice when he received the call that he was about to have another soon-to-be daughter-in-law.

Will Travis Kelce Retire After The 2025 Season?

The 2025 season is the final year Travis Kelce has on his contract.

He has indicated that this season could be his last, although he has not made a definitive, official announcement.

Kelce’s storied career with the Kansas City Chiefs could be nearing its final chapter. After a challenging 2024 season that led to a subpar showing in the Super Bowl, he reluctantly decided to come back for at least one more season.

Kelce, a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ success and a likely future Hall of Famer, posted career-low numbers last season with 97 receptions, 823 yards, and just three touchdowns.

Now that he is engaged and his personal life is set to take the next step, Travis Kelce just might ride off into the sunset with Taylor Swift and shock the world even more by having their first child together.
