Contract negotiations between Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders are clearly not progressing as the 2025 season grows near.
It was just late last month when the NFL world found out that the Commanders’ wideout demanded that he wanted to be traded.
McLaurin wants to be in Washington, but it appears the two sides don’t see eye-to-eye on his contract. The All-Pro receiver is entering the final year of his deal, and following a great 2024 season, he wants a new contract before he hits the field.
Since his demand, he has been the subject of many trade proposals, one of which has him being sent to the AFC to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
As luck would have it, it appears that is precisely where his current team wants to send him.
A new floating rumor suggests that the Washington Commanders offered to send Terry McLaurin to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for tight end Pat Freiermuth and a second-round pick.
During the 2024 NFL season, Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth recorded 653 receiving yards and hauled in a career high 65 catches. That was tied for 8th most among tight ends in 2024.
He would certainly become a weapon for Jayden Daniels and company.
What Does Terry McLaurin Want?
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin is currently in a contract dispute with the team and won’t step on the field until he gets what he wants.
The Commanders awarded him a three-year extension worth around $70 million in 2022, a year before his rookie deal was set to expire.
McLaurin is coming off a great 2024, during which he caught 82 passes, racked up 1,096 yards, and scored a career-high 13 touchdowns. He also earned second-team All-Pro honors.
Shortly before training camp, Terry McLaurin voiced his frustration over contract talks to reporters, saying he planned on continuing his career as a Commander, but wants to play for a franchise only if they recognize his value.
“I’ve been pretty frustrated, I’m not going to lie,” McLaurin said at the time.
Per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, her belief is that a deal in the range of $27-28 million per season would be good for both parties.
Before his trade request, there was a belief that he was seeking a deal worth at least $33 million per season.
Brittney Griner Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Alleged Caitlin Clark Comments That The WNBA Refused To Investigate
Brittney Griner (Photo via Twitter)
WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.
The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”
However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.
It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.
Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”
This is the first time I’ve heard Brittney Griner speak! 🤨

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.
Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got aw@y with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.
This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
