Joe Bryant, the father of the late legendary player Kobe Bryant, passed away at the age of 69 on Tuesday. He had suffered multiple strokes before his d3ath, as announced by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

On Tuesday, Kobe’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, offered her condolences to her father-in-law and his family.

“Sending our condolences upon hearing the news of my father-in-law’s passing. We hoped things would’ve been different. Although the times we spent together were few, he was always sweet and nice to be around. Kobe loved him very much. Our prayers go out to the family.” Vanessa Bryant wrote this in her Instagram story.

Joe was a former NBA player and coach. He played for three NBA teams: the Houston Rockets, the San Diego Clippers, and the Philadelphia 76ers. He also played for several teams in France and Italy. Additionally, he led the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association from 2005 to 2007 and returned to the team for the 2011 season. Joe has also worked as a coach in Thailand and Japan.

Apart from Vanessa’s tribute, Arn Tellem, the vice chairman of the Detroit Pistons, became emotional upon hearing the news. He was deeply saddened to hear of his friend’s passing.

“I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant and join the basketball community in mourning a true Philly hoops legend. Our friendship opened the door for me to represent Kobe as he entered the NBA, a memory I’ll always cherish. Joe was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose warmth touched everyone he met.”

Joe’s son Kobe is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time. His never-give-up Mamba mentality inspired many athletes. He played his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers and won 5 championships with the team. Kobe is often remembered by many players in interviews. Recently, the Boston Celtics star opened up about embracing his idol Kobe Bryant’s legacy by wearing his No. 10 jersey for Team USA.
