Indianapolis Colts radio analyst Rick Venturi inadvertently uttered a racist slur to describe quarterback Jason Bean during Saturday’s preseason contest against the Green Bay Packers.

The Colts gave playing time to four quarterbacks in Saturday’s game, including potential starters Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. Jason Bean and Riley Leonard, vying for the third-stringer job, also got to play against Green Bay.

After scoring the go-ahead touchdown, the Packers kicked the ball back to Indianapolis with 1:22 remaining. When the Colts’ radio broadcast team realized Bean was coming out for the last drive, Rick Venturi accidentally let a racist slur slip out.

“It’s going to be Beaner,” Venturi said.

Unfortunate slipups like this aren’t super uncommon. Just two months ago, St. Louis Cardinals announcer Chip Caray accidentally uttered a homophobic slur while promoting Disability Pride Night flag in a game against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Colts haven’t announced any reprimanding for Venturi’s use of the slur, so it looks like they’re taking it as an honest miscue and moving forward.

Per ESPN’s Stephen Holder, Colts head coach Shane Steichen said he’s “very close” to naming his starting quarterback. The battle is between Richardson and Jones, and it remains to be seen if both Jason Bean and Riley Leonard will make the final 53-man roster, or if one will be cut.

It looked like Jones had a leg up on the competition when Anthony Richardson suffered a finger injury in the Colts’ first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens, but he quickly recovered and completed six of 11 pass attempts vs. Green Bay.

Jason Bean Was The No. 1 Pick In 2024 UFL Draft

The Colts signed Bean as an undrafted free agent last year following his strong finish at Kansas. Two months after signing with Indy, however, Bean was taken first overall by the Memphis Showboats in the 2024 UFL Draft.

Bean never went to the UFL, however, and is still looking to carve out a career in the NFL.

Brittney Griner Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Alleged Caitlin Clark Comments That The WNBA Refused To Investigate

WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.

The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.

The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”

However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.

It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.

Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.

The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.

Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got aw@y with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.

This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
