Let’s just say defense didn’t exactly make the trip to Indianapolis. During halftime of the WNBA All-Star Game, with Team Collier smoking Team Clark 82-60, ESPN’s Elle Duncan delivered a one-liner that surprised the studio, and the internet was buzzing. The game was fun, sure. But competitive? Not so much.

So Duncan found the perfect punchline.

“We hope it gets a little bit more competitive,” she said on ESPN’s halftime show. “Because like a girls’ trip to Cancun, right now, there’s no D.”

Duncan’s Remark Hits Hard

That comment lit up the segment, especially with Andraya Carter and Chiney Ogwumike trying to hold back laughs. Ogwumike fired back the only way she could: “Elle, you’re in timeout. You’re done.”

To be fair, Duncan had a point. Team Clark didn’t offer much resistance in the first half. With the All-Star Game’s new four-point zones in play, both squads launched shots like it was a free-for-all. But it was Collier’s crew who found the bottom of the net, over and over.

At halftime, the 22-point lead already felt like a wrap. “That’s a walk-off,” Duncan added while the cameras showed Sabrina Ionescu sinking a deep four-pointer.

And the second half didn’t change the script. Team Collier went on to dominate, 151-131, with Napheesa Collier setting a new All-Star Game scoring record with 36 points.

The night had energy. It had highlights. But it lacked any real back-and-forth. And Duncan, in just a few words, nailed the vibe, playful, but honest.

Caitlin Clark’s squad looked like they came to shoot and vibe, not clamp down. That’s the All-Star tradition, to some extent. But even for an exhibition, the gap was hard to ignore

ESPN’s halftime show leaned into the moment. They didn’t sugarcoat it. They just called it how it looked, with a little humor thrown in. And Duncan, as always, didn’t miss.

When the scoreboard’s that lopsided and the defense is on vacation, sometimes a one-liner tells the story better than any stat sheet. And Duncan’s Cancun quip might just go down as the most memorable moment of the night.

Discussing her recent surgery, she added: ‘I feel very grateful to have completely recovered.

‘I feel really good. I have a lot of people reaching out who have had the same thing.’

Davina McCall, 56, announced in November she’d been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of benign brain tumour, and has supported Fearne.

She continued: ‘Everyone needs a Davina. She’s been amazing, weird that we had the same health thing going on at the same time. She’s so calming and we speak every day. She is just the best

It comes after Fearne has seemingly made another thinly-veiled dig at her ex-husband as she gushed that she is the happiest she’s ever been in a positive update.

Speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, Fearne gushed that she is ‘really happy’ and is ‘springing out of bed in the morning ready for life’.

Scott, who has known Fearne for 25 years, said he has never seen her ‘more positive or happier’, prompting Fearne to agree and reply: ‘Yeah I feel great!’
