Tyler Loop had higher powers working against him on his missed field goal.
You can point to several reasons why Tyler Loop missed that final field goal. None of them will hold a candle to the real reason why he shanked that kick to the right.
Before the final game of the regular season, Pittsburgh had a priest on the Acrisure Stadium field. He was blessing the field before the matchup. They were doing everything they could to defeat Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
If Pittsburgh could beat Baltimore or tie the Ravens, the Steelers would get into the playoffs. They would be the AFC’s No. 4 seed and host the Houston Texans.
With two seconds left on the clock, the Baltimore Ravens put their season in a rookie’s hands. Tyler Loop needed to knock down a 44-yard field goal. His kick missed, sailing to the right of the goal posts, ending the Ravens’ season.
It turns out that the priest likely had something to do with it.
The same end zone from which Loop missed the field goal was the one that was blessed. That priest sprayed holy water into the end zone.

Tyler Loop Receives Backlash

Ravens’ kicker Tyler Loop is the most disliked person in Baltimore. The rookie’s missed kick ended the team’s hopes of making the playoffs. As time ran out, the kick veered wide right. Pittsburgh celebrated a 26-24 victory and the AFC North title.
Loop already felt bad about it. The moment left Lamar Jackson completely stunned on the sidelines. If that wasn’t bad enough, his own fan base turned on him.
Baltimore Ravens fans took to social media and began sending death threats to Loop and his wife. All of this was because of a missed field goal.
The Ravens’ collapse will intensify the scrutiny on coach John Harbaugh. This was only his third losing season in Baltimore. For now, he is safe since the focus is on Tyler Loop. Despite failing in the biggest moment of his career, Loop met with reporters and took questions after the game.
He took responsibility for the miss, saying he simply “mishit the ball.”
The 24-year-old rookie should be back on the team for the 2026 season.
