Garcia and the Cleveland Cavaliers guard have been on and off since high school and share one daughter together.

In years past, Ball has had to confront the mother of his child over comments about his parenting. One moment was when she responded to the question, “wink if Lonzo is a deadbeat,” and proceeded to blink and laugh.

“Came to see the deadbeat, huh?” Lonzo Ball said on the family’s reality series, “Ball in the Family,” in 2019.

These days, they are doing much better, but it’s Garcia who is facing questions.

On Michael Porter Jr.’s podcast, “Curious Mike,” the Brooklyn Nets star asked Denise Garcia and Brittany Renner how they deal with being placed in a negative connotation of being a “baby mama” and dealing with accusations of being labeled a gold digger.

“I feel like ever since my ex and I were together, he posted me and it was like, ‘Oh, you’re a gold digger,’” Garcia said. “This was even before we brought Zoey into the world. So, I guess people just think that you’re kind of out there for what players can offer you financially.”

Garcia stated that, because she had known Lonzo Ball since he was a teenager, her relationship with him never had anything to do with what he could “provide.”

With Cleveland, he now gives them a premium backup option behind all-star Darius Garland.

Last year, he scored 7.6 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.4 rebounds in 35 games for the Bulls. He is still an outstanding playmaker and a triple-double threat night in and night out, but it’s been a while since fans have seen that version of him.
