Mic’d up cameras caught Chicago Sky players Angel Reese and Rachel Banham performing a hilarious signature handshake before Saturday’s game against the Phoenix Mercury.
Angel Reese’s outspoken nature and well-documented rivalry with Caitlin Clark have made her one of the WNBA’s most polarizing players. Then again, Reese told reporters last year that she’s happy to take on the “bad guy role” if it helps grow women’s basketball.
Say what you want about Reese, but no matter how you feel about the former LSU star, there’s no denying that she makes the WNBA that much more entertaining.
Ahead of yesterday’s game against the Mercury, SportsCenter posted a mic’d up video of Reese and Bunham performing a special handshake:
Angel Reese had nine points, two rebounds and a pair of assists, but the struggling Sky fell 107-86 to the surging Mercury. Chicago is now 3-9 through 12 contests, just 1.5 games ahead of the last-placed Connecticut Sun (2-11).
Through her first 11 games of 2025, Reese is averaging 11 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Reese briefly held the WNBA single-season record last year at 446, but a season-ending wrist injury allowed Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson to reset the record at 451.
One fan wasn’t too happy and called it “Disgusting!”

It’s my turn.” The clip ends with her father visibly emotional, delivering a quiet message of his own — one that viewers say is even more powerful than the medal itself.
