Lip readers think they detected the concerning two-word message the Kansas City Chiefs’ trainer had for star wide receiver Xavier Worthy after he was knocked out of Friday night’s season opener with a shoulder injury.

The 22-year-old Xavier Worthy was injured on the Chiefs’ opening drive against the Los Angeles Chargers when he accidentally collided with teammate Travis Kelce on a crossing route. Worthy was looked at on the sidelines and taken to the locker room, and the Chiefs subsequently ruled him out for the rest of the game.

YouTube TV’s broadcast showed the Chiefs’ trainer speaking to Worthy on the sideline. Lip readers think that after looking at Worthy’s shoulder, the trainer said, “It’s bad.”

The Chiefs certainly can’t afford another injury at wide receiver. Third-year star Rashee Rice is serving a six-game suspension, and rookie Jalen Royals missed Friday night’s game with a knee injury.

Per Pro Football Reference, Worthy caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie 2024 season. The former first-round pick also saw 20 carries for 104 rushing yards and three rushing scores.
