Tristan Thompson and his marriage to Khloe Kardashian have been much in the public eye for a long time.
Out of many reasons, infidelity was the topmost reason for the marriage falling out and the drama unfolding before their fans.
However, a video recently went viral from 2023 where Thompson put his side of the story and gave an excuse for cheating on his wife.
During an episode of ‘The Kardashians’, the Cleveland Cavaliers star player addressed the issue openly before Kourtney Kardashian.
“I was just cheating for an action, just cheating for a feeling, but also it really came down to not knowing how to love, because that’s the way I grew up. What I saw from my dad was how he would treat my mom. As a kid, when you see that, the trauma you have because you can’t protect your mom. Because you’re so young and ’cause your mom tells you it’s going to be OK, you basically numb your emotions of being scared or feeling sad. It’s my form of a defense mechanism,” he said on the show.

Kourtney, on the other hand, approached the conversation with skepticism. She arrived prepared with questions and demanded an honest explanation for his actions. She prompted Tristan to acknowledge that he feels guilt and disgust after cheating.
“I don’t think you deserve Khloe or the actions that you’ve done have been something that she’s deserved,” Kourtney told Thompson.
However, she was left amazed by the kind of excuses her sister’s former partner was making.

While Tristan Thompson gave an unjust explanation for the reason behind his cheating on his ex-wife Khloe, things were a little different.
During a heartfelt conversation on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Khloe Kardashian opened up about her complicated relationship with Tristan.
She candidly shared how ashamed she felt at times for allowing those betrayals to happen. She recalled that painful moment in 2018 when she discovered Tristan had cheated while she was pregnant with their daughter, True.
“Well, the interesting part is, I think the very first time it happened, I didn’t [make a change]. And that’s okay, because it’s done. And I also had to forgive myself for that. There was a time that I felt very guilty, like, why did I even stay? Why am I not forgiving myself? I would blame myself for everything,” Khloe said on the podcast.

“The second time, you know, my surrogate was still pregnant with Tatum, and the people didn’t know yet that I was having Tatum. But I felt such shame that it was happening again, because I knew I knew better,” she added.
The couple had quite a tumultuous relationship and went through several breakups before finally calling it quits for good in 2021.
Though it was an arduous journey, Khloe emphasized that the arrival of their second child, Tatum, via surrogate also brought up a whirlwind of emotions for her.
Despite everything she’s been through, Khloe keeps her heart open to love and even the possibility of marriage again.
