A’ja Wilson did all she could do on Sunday to send her team to the WNBA Finals as she poured in 31 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and three blocks, but her squad couldn’t overcome the Indiana Fever and fell in Game 4 of their WNBA semifinals matchup.
Her play and the loss took a back seat to what some alleged actions of hers following the game.
On social media, X troll account Bricks Center had the site buzzing when they shared a clip from the postgame presser, which made allegations that Wilson was laughing at an “Asian reporter’s accent” when he asked Aces coach Becky Hammon about NaLyssa Smith’s foul situation.
A’ja Wilson seemingly looks at the reporter, then Becky Hammon, before she puts her head down to laugh and to turn her head to continue laughing.
She eventually gathers herself enough to stop chuckling.
“A’ja Wilson laughs at an Asian reporter’s accent 😭,” the X account stated.
A’ja Wilson previously caught a lot of backlash and praise for what she said about Caitlin Clark and white privilege.
A’ja Wilson Calls Out Aliyah Boston Following Game 4
Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston (7) defends Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson (22) during Game 4 of the WNBA semifinals on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces have some superstars on both squads.
The Indiana Fever produced a 90-83 win on their home court against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday to set up a winner-take-all on the West Coast on Tuesday.
The most fascinating matchup to watch in this series is the post-battle between superstars A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston. Both can hardly stop the other.
Officiating has been a hot-button issue throughout this series and other games. As we saw, Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark blatantly dissed their own coaches just to argue with the refs.
The WNBA also suspended Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve for Game 4 of her team’s semifinal series against the Phoenix Mercury after she was ejected during the final minute in Game 3.
In Game 4, the Fever went 26 of 34 from the line to win 90-83.
A’ja Wilson called the foul discrepancy “very interesting.”
“I was just looking at the fouls,” Wilson said, when asked what she was studying in the box score while at the podium. “[NaLyssa Smith] had five, Jackie [Young] had five, Chelsea [Gray] had five. That’s very interesting to me because, I’m not saying we don’t foul — yeah, we foul here and there — but that’s very interesting. We’ll do better, we gotta play better defense.”
Wilson was asked why Aliyah Boston was so successful in Game 4, and she responded by mentioning the 13 free throws that contributed to her 24-point, 14-rebound, five-assist outing.
“I don’t know, you’ll have to ask Aliyah that question,” Wilson said. “Honestly, you just do your work, you gotta do your work early and make it different. But Aliyah did say I have a special whistle, and she shot 13 today.
“Yeah, she said it [in Game 3] that I have a special whistle, which is cool. We just gotta play better defense, make her looks a little difficult and go from there.”
