WNBA Legend Issues Warning To The League About Indiana Fever Star Caitlin Clark Ahead Of Year 2
Caitlin Clark’s rookie season was everything fans hoped for — and now a former WNBA legend says the rest of the league better be ready.
After dominating the college game at Iowa, Clark came into the WNBA and instantly made an impact. The Indiana Fever guard averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game, helping the team finish 20-20 and sneak into the playoffs.
Though they were bounced by the Connecticut Sun in the first round, Clark’s performance turned heads — and according to one former star, she’s just getting started.
“This league has no idea what’s coming in Year 2,” the legend warned.
The message is loud and clear: Caitlin Clark isn’t a rookie anymore, and the WNBA better take notice.
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is heading into her second season in the WNBA and one former legend has a warning for the rest of the league.
Caitlin Clark has been making waves in the basketball world since her college days at Iowa. And her rookie season in the WNBA did not disappoint. In her first season with the Indiana Fever, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game. She helped lead the Fever to a 20-20 record and the playoffs, although the Connecticut Sun eliminated them in the first round.
Now that Clark is entering her sophomore season in the league, more greatness expected to come.
WNBA legend sends strong message about Caitlin Clark
Clark has already cemented her superstar status in the league after just one season. As she gets ready to start her second season this weekend, WNBA legend Sue Bird said that this is just the beginning.
“I always like to quote Michael Jordan in these moments – ‘The ceiling is the roof’. She was incredible last year,” Bird said on the podcast “Casuals with Katie Nolan”. “She knows the league now, and so that’s dangerous.”
Last season, Clark was a WNBA All-Star, won Rookie of the Year, and led the league in average assists and all rookie scoring. She has been considered amongst the best guards in the league alongside the likes of Sabrina Ionescu, Diana Taurasi and Chelsea Gray.
Clark and the Fever will start their season with a home game against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky this Saturday, May 17 at 3 p.m. ET.
