Paige Bueckers Makes History in Wings Win Over Mercury

Paige Bueckers didn’t need long to establish herself as one of the best players in the WNBA.

For starters, Bueckers has been named a starter for this year’s WNBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana. She’s the only first-year player in the starting pool for this year. Additionally, she’s the sixth No. 1 pick to start in an All-Star Game as a rookie. The UConn product joins a group that features Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Maya Moore, Sue Bird and Chamique Holdsclaw.

That’s not the only honor Bueckers has received this season. On Thursday, she was officially named the WNBA Rookie of the Month for June.

Bueckers was sensational last month, averaging 21.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. She has already established herself as the lead scoring option for the Dallas Wings.

After the WNBA named Bueckers the Rookie of the Month, fans went on social media to share their thoughts.

“The WNBA got it right this month,” one fan said.

“Baby goat,” a second fan commented.

“No one is doing it like my rook,” a Wings fan wrote on X.

“Player Of The Week next,” another fan predicted.

Overall, Bueckers is averaging 18.4 points and 5.8 assists per game for the Wings. She is well on her way to being named the WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Even though Bueckers has been exceptional for the Wings, they’re 12th in the WNBA standings with a 5-13 record.

WNBA fans will get to see Bueckers in action Thursday night against the Phoenix Mercury.
