An unlucky sports fan lost over $9,000 after Tyrese Haliburton led the Indiana Pacers to a shocking comeback win over the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday.
The Knicks led the Pacers by 17 points in the fourth quarter. Their lead felt even safer at 14 points with under three minutes to go. And when the Pacers cut it to nine points with under a minute remaining? It was still over. Turn the TV off and get to bed early, Pacer and Knicks fans. Or so we thought.
Per the New York Post, a bettor placed a massive $9,626 wager on the Knicks through the Kalshi prediction market. The bettor, believing the Knicks had the game in the bag, would have only pocketed a profit of $77 (a $9,723 payout) if New York held on.
To put down that much money on such a small profit didn’t at all seem risky, considering that no team had ever erased the deficit Indiana faced. But sure enough, the Knicks’ historic collapse unraveled, with Tyrese Haliburton hitting the game-tying basket as time expired to force overtime:

Unfortunately for the bettor, the Knicks wouldn’t recover as they went on to lose 138-135 in overtime. Tyrese Haliburton finished the night with 31 points, four rebounds and 11 assists to steal home advantage from New York.
LMAOOOO someone put $9.6k on the Knicks when they had a 99% chance to win to make $77

Per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, teams up 14 or more points with 2:45 remaining in a playoff game since 1997 were 994-0. With the Knicks collapsing and the Pacers completing the improbable comeback, that mark is no longer perfect.
Knicks led by 14 with 2:45 to play in 4th quarter and now are in OT vs Pacers. Teams leading playoff game by 14+ in final 2:45 of 4th quarter are 994-0 in play by play era (since 1997)

Game 2 is set for Friday night at 8:00 p.m. EST.

The Pacers were hardly considered a threat to win the East heading into the postseason, despite finishing fourth in the East with a 50-32 record. But after taking down the Milwaukee Bucks in round one, they shocked the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in five games to set up a rivalry renewal with New York.
There is still a long way to go, but who’s to count out the Pacers from winning the franchise’s first championship at this point?
Tony Romo (Photo via CBS)
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is not the most popular guy on TV. That much was apparent while he was calling the Wild Card game between the Broncos and Bills for CBS on Sunday.
Romo, who has done very little to hide how much he admires Buffalo QB Josh Allen, had some praise for the MVP favorite while he was attempting to take his team to the Divisional Round.
Some fans felt like he was being overly gracious, while some simply couldn’t stand him talking in general.
“STFU AGAIN ROMO!!!!!!!!! I’M TIRED OF YOUR BILLS AND CHIEFS GLAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU’RE SICKENING ASF!!!!!!!!!!” an X user wrote.
“Can we start a petition to ban Romo from calling games,” another asked.
“Can Tony Romo get off his kneees for Josh Allen?” someone else chimed in.
“Tv muted when romo starts talking,” a fan claimed.
Tony Romo’s Partner Reached Impressive Milestone
While Romo was getting slammed, his broadcast colleague touched an impressive milestone.
Jim Nantz has been with CBS for over 40 years and reached his 500th game with the network calling Sunday’s fixture.
Nantz and Romo have been working together for seven of those 40 years.

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has emerged as one of the most prominent figures in women’s basketball. Her outstanding achievements and dominant performances on the court have boosted her confidence in her skills. However, this confidence has recently caused her some trouble, as NBA fans criticized her for a recent statement she made.
In a recent episode of the “Roommates” show, Wilson stunned both the NBA and WNBA by claiming that she could defeat New York Knicks star Josh Hart in a one-on-one matchup. Additionally, she predicted that the final score would be 11-8.
“Score would be 11-8, me. I’m not saying you gonna go scoreless, 8 to 11 is pretty solid. So, what do you think it’ll be, Josh?” Wilson said.
Although Josh and Wilson both had a good laugh during their conversation, Wilson’s comment stirred up the basketball community. “She’d lose 11-0 w him only playing w his offhand,” one fan said.
