Some things are simply more important than your day job. The Winter Olympics are mere days away from beginning in Milan and Cortina, Italy. What is supposed to be a grand show has been clouded in controversy for weeks. From ICE making their presence known to protests happening in the host city.

Now, Savannah Guthrie is one face viewers will not see throughout the Olympics. The “Today” show host was scheduled to co-host the Opening Ceremony for the fourth time in her career.

After pulling out of Monday’s show, she will not make the trip to Italy, Page Six reports. She was also scheduled to host Today alongside co-host Hoda Kotb for the first week of the Olympics.

She has more pressing issues with the disappearance of her mother. Authorities are now treating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie as a possible criminal investigation. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that Savannah is in Arizona and that her family is cooperating with investigators.

A search-and-rescue mission has involved airplanes, drones, helicopters, and specially trained dogs. Homicide detectives were also involved in the investigation. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos made a “plea” to “anyone who knows anything about it, to call them immediately.
