Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 65 in September 2026, shortly after being diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Initially, Mike Detillier was rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe stomach pain. Consequently, doctors performed a series of CAT scans and tests, which ultimately led to a devastating discovery. Specifically, he was diagnosed with terminal, Stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Prior to his full-time broadcasting career, Detillier worked for nearly three decades as an engineer for the state of Louisiana. However, his true passion lay in football. As a result, he launched the widely respected NFL Draft Report in 1985. That would lead to him spending over 40 years as a foundational voice on WWL Radio, covering the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers.
In the wake of his death, organizations like the New Orleans Saints, along with countless colleagues and fans, have poured out heartfelt tributes. Furthermore, peers remembered him as someone whose greatest gift was making everyone he interacted with feel valued and comfortable.
