Carrie Ann Inaba and Derek Hough had the exchange after he applauded Jan Ravnik’s dancing amid ex-pros’ criticism.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd had previously voiced their criticism of current pro Jan Ravnik.

This then led to him earning special praise from Derek on the Halloween episode last night – which in turn led to a clash between Derek and Carrie Ann.

“Jan, first of all, I want to tell you, my man, that you are doing a fantastic first season,” Derek said.

He concluded his critique by saying, “Fantastic!”

He added that he did agree with fellow judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s critique on stretching their feet.

“Just be aware of your whole body,” Carrie Ann told Jen Affleck, Jan’s partner.

“I’m not trying to be hard on you. Just know I say this with love, because I want you to improve because I see the potential in you.”

Taking to Reddit, fans were quick to react to the strange moment between the pair.

“Did anyone catch the weirdness between Carrie Ann and Derek?” asked one person.

“Does anyone know what they said when judging Jen and Jan?

“It felt like there was a weird back and forth with Carrie Ann interjecting but Hulu won’t let me rewind to figure it out,” the original poster added.

One person replied, “Just came to see if this has been mentioned. What the heck? So uncomfortable. I wanna know the backstory.”

Another added, “Yes what the heck was that!!!”

While a third penned, “I was also wondering!”

And a fourth said, “What was that? Im so confused.”

While a fifth wrote, “Yes that was weird.”

Carrie Ann is known for her somewhat harsh critique, with two professional dancers even calling her out for her comments this month.

But just last week, Carrie Ann responded to the calls for her to be fired from the show amid her “harsh” critique.

In a video shared on TikTok, Carrie Ann could be seen applying lip gloss as she mimed along to a Taylor Swift song.

While applying the lip gloss, she mimed Actually Romantic from the singer’s Te Life of A Showgirl album,

The lyrics that Carrie Ann mimed were, “But it’s actually sweet / All the time you’ve spent on me / It’s honestly wild / All the effort you’ve put in.

“It’s actually romantic / I really gotta hand it to you, ooh / No man has ever loved me like you do.”
