Savannah Guthrie recalled an unusual detail at her mother’s crime scene. March 29 marks day 57 since Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Arizona home. The investigation has seen no progress since the TODAY Show anchor discussed her mother’s sudden disappearance with co-anchor Hoda Kotb. The NBC personality shared personal details about her mother’s home, which had turned into a crime scene.
During the emotional interview, Savannah appeared to disclose a new piece of evidence regarding her mother’s abduction. This follows a significant Nancy Guthrie update as someone left the area within days of the kidnapping.
“We thought maybe they came and there was a stretcher and they took her out the back, but her phone was there, and her purse was there, and all her things,” Guthrie recounted on March 26. “And it just didn’t make any sense.

“Her back was very bad,” she added. “On a good day, she could walk down to the mailbox and get the mail, but most days not. So there was no wander off, and the doors were propped open, and the ring camera had been yanked off.”
Guthrie suspected her mother was likely in her pajamas and wasn’t wearing shoes when she was forcibly taken.
The FBI published video from the residence’s doorbell camera showing a masked individual wearing gloves and carrying a gun at Nancy’s front entrance the evening she was kidnapped. Savannah’s interview initially broadcast on Thursday, March 26, followed by a Friday, March 27 airing during the TODAY show.

Before their discussion, Hoda reflected on the heartfelt exchange Savannah shared with her fellow anchors, including Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, and Al Roker.
“There is a desperation and also a steelyness about Savannah,” Kotb remarked. “I mean, she’s hoping that somebody, whoever this person is, will see something and say something.
“I was sort of marveling that she was able to sit there with an outfit on, have a conversation, and also have just direct thoughts about what she sees going forward.”
Kotb has substituted for Savannah at the NBC news desk since the veteran broadcast journalist stepped away to dedicate more time to her children while search and rescue operations continued for her missing mother.
Savannah reportedly plans to return to her television responsibilities after her children’s spring break. In New York City, schools reopen on April 10 following the holiday period.
This development emerges as the puzzling vanishing of an Air Force general shares multiple unsettling parallels with the Nancy case.
