If Angel Reese hits the trade block, the Chicago Sky won’t have a problem finding interested suitors.

Last week, Angel Reese made headlines when she said she wouldn’t settle for another disappointing season. Reese called for Chicago “to get great players,” adding that it’s “non-negotiable for” her.

The Sky suspended Reese for the first half of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, noting that her public comments were “detrimental” to the team. Chicago lost that game 80-66.

Social media detectives noticed that Reese also removed “Chi-Town Barbie” from her Instagram bio, a potential sign that she wants out of Chicago.

In a significant update, Ashish Mathur of Dallas Hoops Journal reports that “multiple” teams will target Angel Reese in a trade this offseason. According to Mathur, many in the Chicago organization were upset with her public comments about the team needing roster upgrades:

“Multiple WNBA teams will pursue a trade for Chicago Sky star Angel Reese this offseason, sources told DallasHoopsJournal.

Sky players, coaches and higher-ups are not happy with Reese after what she said to the Chicago Tribune, sources said. Chicago could attempt to trade Reese this offseason, sources said.”

The Sky wrap up their 2025 season against the New York Liberty tonight (8:00 p.m. EST).

While it’s never a wise idea to publicly call out your own organization, Reese’s frustrations aren’t hard to comprehend. She became a star at a top-tier women’s basketball program at LSU, winning the national championship game over Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes in 2023.

So missing the postseason in consecutive years to begin her professional career obviously won’t sit well with Reese. At 10-33, the Sky are in danger of tying the Dallas Wings (9-34) for the worst record of 2025.

Reese has done her part to keep the Sky competitive, averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Sophomore Kamilla Cardoso averages the second-most points per game among Chicago players at 13.4, and only four Chicago players are averaging double-digit points.

If Chicago can’t commit to drastically overhauling its roster, it might be in the best interest of both parties for Reese to get traded.
