Sophie Cunningham spent the latter part of the 2025 WNBA season rehabbing her MCL, which she tore in her first season with the Indiana Fever. Her rehab extended to the offseason, and she has spent most of the time trying to get better. On Wednesday, she appeared as a guest on the show “Like a Farmer Podcast,” where she talked about how her diet has helped her recover.

During the episode, Cunningham was asked about a health secret regarding how she manages her diet during recovery.

“I think everyone is different,” Cunningham said. “Everything that works for you, might not work for me. … But I was raised on meat, potatoes, cornbread, a big old apple ppie at the end, sugar and everything.

“But there’s nothing like a big old piece of meat.”

Cunningham and Pat Spinosa then burst out laughing. After this, fans on X issued some strong reactions. Here are some of the fan comments.

Sophie Cunningham joked about having herpes

In January, Sophie Cunningham had some jokes with her friend and co-host, West Wilson. During an episode of their podcast, “Show Me Something,” the Fever guard joked about contracting herpes.

Cunningham talked about borrowing someone else’s ChapStickand told Wilson not to kiss her. The former Phoenix Mercury player showed off a cold sore on her lip, and her co-host couldn’t believe it. But the former Missouri standout laughed it off, and she shared what she thinks caused the cold sore.

“So what it is, every time I go into different climates, my lips get so dry and for some reason I always get a cold sore,” she explained. “But I also drank after a bunch of people and used a bunch of people’s Chapstick. I didn’t kiss anybody!”
