Golden Bachelor fans didn’t hold back as they tuned in to the season finale of Mel Owens’ journey to find love again–quickly branding the season as one of the most boring and “worst” in franchise history.

The ABC show, which became shrouded in controversy before the season aired due to Owens’ previous comments about the ages of the women cast, came to a close on Nov. 12, as fans tuned in to see if the former NFL star, 66, would propose to either Cindy Cullers, 60, or Peg Munson, 62.

And though things took a “wild” turn during his final date with Cindy, fans couldn’t help but find themselves yawning over the way things played out.

Fans watched as Cindy ultimately chose to self-eliminate and leave Antigua ahead of her Fantasy Suite date with Mel, following a conversation that had disturbed her.

In their chat, Mel suggested he wouldn’t want to propose to her or marry her–leaving her with no choice but to leave as she was seeking a new marriage.

However, despite the turn of events, fans couldn’t help but reveal that they were less than impressed by the way things were going, taking to social media to share that they were still “bored” and excited the show was finally coming to an end.

“Here we go, thank goodness this season is over after tonight cause I have never been so bored,” one said on X (formerly Twitter).

“Thank goodness that this season is finally over, for now,” a second wrote.

“It’s the golden bachelor finale and twitter is crickets. Nobody cares, this is the worst bachelor or bachelorette ever,” a third added.

Others questioned the franchise as a whole, wondering how anyone still watched considering the show’s history of not finding lasting connections for many, and its questionable choice in male leads, specifically for the Golden shows.

“How anyone watches The Bachelor or The Golden Bachelor is beyond me. Just stupid TV. Manufactured “love” never works,” one wrote.

“So far the golden bachelor has a wonderful track record of finding awful men,” another said.

“My word, Mel Owens is even worse than I ever imagine! So glad I didn’t watch this season (and I loved the previous Golden Bachelor & Golden Bachelorette seasons!),” a third added.

Fans also pointed out that after Owens’ comments on the podcast that he had to apologize for on the first episode, ABC should have just pulled the plug on his season as a whole.

“After what Mel said on the podcast, abc and golden bachelor should’ve pulled the plug on his season. what a waste of time,” they wrote.

In the end, the show did not conclude with the traditional proposal, as Mel gave Peg a commitment ring instead.

Prior to doing the show, Owens was previously married to Brazilian hospitality expert Fabiana Pimentel Owens.

The pair married in 2002 and separated in 2020 before finalizing their divorce in December 2024 following a lengthy legal battle.
