Four more residents are moving to Music City as 9-1-1: Nashville has expanded its cast.
Joining the ensemble as series regulars are, from left below, Hailey Kilgore (Power Book III: Raising Kanan), Michael Provost (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Juani Feliz (Harlem) and acting newcomer Hunter McVey, our sister site Variety reports.
NCIS: Los Angeles vet Chris O’Donnell stars in the upcoming spinoff, which is described as “a high-octane procedural about our heroic first responders, as well as their family saga of power and glamour set in one of America’s most diverse and dynamic cities.”
O’Donnell headlines the drama as Captain Don Sharpe, “a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son,” according to the official character description. “Don’s a devoted husband and family man, but he has his secrets.”
Leaning into the show’s musical setting and country vibe, Tony and Grammy Award nominee Kilgore will play Taylor, “a firefighter and incredible singer,” while Provost will portray Ryan, “a modern-day cowboy and firefighter” (and, presumably, the son of O’Donnell’s character). Rounding out the first-responders are McVey as Blue, a haunted bad boy-turned-firefighter, and Feliz – who was part of The Equalizer spinoff’s failed backdoor pilot – as Roxie, “an adrenaline junkie and former trauma surgeon.”
Who Else Will Star in 9-1-1: Nashville?
Former Grey’s Anatomy star Jessica Capshaw will play the wife of O’Donnell’s character and the mother of his son. There are no character details currently available for the show’s other two cast members, singer LeAnn Rimes and actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Nashville, According to Jim).
Will There Be Crossovers With 9-1-1?
With the two series airing on the same network, not to mention the same night, it would only be natural for 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville to stage a big crossover – we know how much the original series loves its epic disaster events – or, at the very least, for a character to make an appearance on the offshoot. After all, if Angela Bassett’s Athena Grant could board Doctor Odyssey‘s cruise ship, surely she or one of her colleagues could pay a visit to Nashville.
Alas, 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville executive producer Tim Minear told TVLine, “It’s just not something we’re thinking about right now.” (It’s OK, we’ll wait patiently for him to start thinking about it.)
When Will 9-1-1: Nashville Premiere?
ABC has yet to announce a premiere date for the series, but we do know it will air Thursdays at 9/8c (after the mothership 9-1-1 at 8 pm), beginning this fall. The show will also stream next day on Hulu.
Is There a Trailer For 9-1-1: Nashville?
A full trailer hasn’t been unveiled yet, but ABC did release the following fiery teaser, which plays up Nashville’s music roots with a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.”
