Carson Daly is reportedly preparing to step away from The Voice after hosting every season of the NBC singing competition since it premiered in 2011.

According to a source speaking to The U.S. Sun, Daly will not return as host for Season 31. His decision is said to have been driven by two main factors: the difficulty of balancing his responsibilities on Today with the production schedule for The Voice, and his desire to spend more time with his family.

“Carson Daly is out. He’s not hosting Season 31,” the source claimed.

The insider explained that Daly could not make the upcoming filming schedule work alongside his commitments to Today. The constant travel between New York and Los Angeles had also reportedly become increasingly difficult for the longtime television personality.

Daly primarily lives in New York City with his wife, Siri, and their four children. His work on Today is also based there, but filming The Voice has regularly required him to travel across the country to Los Angeles for several days at a time.

According to the source, that arrangement was no longer practical as his workload on Today continued to grow.

“His Today workload mixed with not wanting to be away from family this next year made him say ‘no’ to hosting 31,” the insider said.

The decision would mark a major change for The Voice. Daly has been the only host in the programme’s history, remaining a constant presence while coaches, contestants and formats have changed around him.

Since the show launched in 2011, Daly has guided viewers through the Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts and live finales. He has introduced contestants, spoken with their families and helped connect the performers with the celebrity coaches sitting in the programme’s famous red chairs.

Season 31 would therefore become the first edition of The Voice without Daly standing at the centre of the stage.

However, his reported departure from the hosting role does not mean he is leaving the franchise completely.

The source claimed that Daly will remain an executive producer on the show and continue contributing behind the scenes. The possibility of a future return has also not been ruled out.

“He remains an executive producer on it and the door is open if he wants to return for Season 32,” the insider said.

That leaves Daly’s long-term future with the programme uncertain rather than permanently closed. For now, the reported plan is for him to step away from presenting Season 31 while maintaining his executive role.

Daly is currently working on Season 30, which means viewers will still see him when the programme returns. The season is scheduled to premiere on NBC on Monday, September 21.

The coaching panel will feature returning stars Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine, alongside newcomers Queen Latifah and Riley Green.
