It turns out Indiana Jones might’ve been looking in the wrong place.
A team of archaeologists digging through the ancient ruins of Shiloh in Israel says they may have found something huge, like biblical-huge. We’re talking about the possible resting place of the Ark of the Covenant.
Yes, you heard that right. The one that held the Ten Commandments and, according to Exodus 25:22, served as the place where God spoke to Moses “from between the two cherubim.”
For centuries, people have speculated about what happened to the Ark after it vanished from history around 586 BC. Now, Dr. Scott Stripling and his team at the Tel Shiloh excavations believe they’ve uncovered the stone foundations of the Tabernacle, the sacred structure that once housed the Ark.
Clues Point To Ancient Site That May Have Housed The Ark

“We have identified a monumental building from the Iron Age I period that perfectly matches the biblical specifications,” Stripling told The Christian Broadcasting Network. That means an east-west orientation and a 2-to-1 internal ratio, which matches the layout described in the book of Exodus.
But that’s not all. The team found over 100,000 animal bones scattered across the site, mostly from sheep, goats, and oxen. According to Stripling, this isn’t random. “The evidence of ritual sacrifice here is overwhelming, and it matches the biblical account to a degree that’s hard to ignore,” he said.
They also uncovered pottery fragments dating back to when the Ark would’ve been stored at Shiloh. The findings line up so closely with scripture that it’s making more than a few heads turn.
While nothing confirms the Ark physically sat in this spot, the signs are stacking up. Stripling and his team are convinced this could be the real deal.
Meanwhile, 900 miles away, another group of archaeologists in Turkey are chasing a very different kind of ark. They’re digging at the Durupinar formation, a boat-shaped site near Mount Ararat. Some believe it might be the final resting place of Noah’s Ark.
Funny enough, declassified CIA documents suggest the agency knew about both these spots decades ago. So maybe the truth was out there, just buried a little deeper than we thought.
Either way, the race to uncover ancient mysteries is heating up. And this time, it’s not just Hollywood doing the digging.
