Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals was on June 22 at the PayCom Center in downtown Oklahoma City. Haliburton had been playing through a right calf strain in the playoffs, an injury that led to a more devastating one. He drove to the basket with 4:55 left in the first quarter when he suddenly slumped to the floor. The entire Pacers team promptly went over to check on him while he writhed in pain on the floor.

Tyrese Haliburton could not even put weight on his right foot, prompting teammates and the training staff to help him to the locker room. Haliburton’s father, John, and Jones visited him in the dugout. It was the elder Haliburton who informed the media about the severity of the injury.

A day after rupturing his Achilles tendon, the point guard underwent surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. After the operation, Haliburton went on Instagram to share his frustrations and apologized to Indy fans for not bringing a championship to the city.

Tyrese Haliburton also vowed to be back, writing that he would “dust myself off and get right back to the best version” of himself.

“At 25, I’ve already learned that God never gives us more than we can handle. I know I’ll come out on the other side of this a better man and a better player. … I don’t regret it. … I will do everything in my power to get back right.”

Haliburton is now in his 24th week of letting fans “watch how I come back from this.”
