Gerry Turner Reveals Details Of Divorce

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist both already found the great love of their lives. They bonded on The Golden Bachelor about the loss of their respective spouses. When it came to choosing between Theresa and Leslie Fhima, Gerry proposed to Theresa. They married in January 2024 in a televised wedding.

In his new book, Gerry Turner said that the wedding was a mistake. He admitted that he felt “trapped” into going through with it. He previously hinted that his cancer diagnosis played a role in the divorce. Theresa Nist fiercely denied the claim. She said just a few months ago that they were on good terms, but apparently the truce is over.

Gerry Turner has written a memoir about his time on reality TV and short-lived marriage. Golden Years: What I’ve Learned from Love, Loss, and Reality TV hits bookstores in early November. But in an interview with Us Weekly, the Golden Bachelor star shared a preview.

While the book may cover his life before the ABC show, the main focus of the interview was his marriage to Theresa Nist. He seemingly confirmed rumors that her refusal to move out of Shrewsbury, New Jersey, or quit her job.

“On the show, I asked Theresa if she was ready to quit her job. She said, “When I meet the right guy, I’m ready to end my career,’” he said.

He also said that he didn’t feel any “joy” when he proposed to Theresa.

Theresa Nist hit back at her ex with a statement of her own. She said it was “sad” to hear that he felt trapped in marrying her. “Those in glass houses should not throw stones. I do wish him all the best,” she added.

Her initial statement was short and sweet, but she had a lot more to say about her ex’s comments. After her comments to Us Weekly, she made another statement to the She’s All Bach podcast.

Theresa Nist said that she had stayed silent in the year since the divorce out of respect for Gerry’s family. She was “disappointed” that he chose to write about their relationship in his book. Theresa added that his portrayal of what happened wasn’t accurate.

“I really believed he loved me, but clearly, he had me fooled,” she said about her ex-husband.

Theresa Nist wasn’t exactly a favorite on The Golden Bachelor, but fans had her back amid Gerry Turner’s cruel words. One fan wrote on social media, “A classier, more eloquent, and smarter response than his comments even warranted.”
