Jen Affleck isn’t sitting back as her Dancing With the Stars partner Jan Ravnik, 30, is hit with criticisms she calls slander, and now, she is also defending the fact that they are performing to a Taylor Swift song on the Halloween Night episode of the ABC show.
Jan has been subjected to criticism as the newest pro on the show, with many slamming that his most recent experience was as a dancer on Taylor Swift’s Eras tour.
Now, after many picked up on the pair dancing to one of her songs on the next episode and claimed that the show was “throwing him a bone,” The Secret Lives of Mormon Lives star, 26, is once again defending herself and her partner.
Speaking to Access Hollywood as they rehearsed, Jen shared that the song was her choice.
She also shared why they were really performing to it, hinting that they wanted to prove their critics wrong.

“I chose the song where, I feel like I’m at this stage, where like, people have like, you know with us being newbies, especially Jan, I think alot of people have doubted us and I think have questioned if we’re actual contenders in this competition,” she said.
“I feel like this is the moment to just prove them wrong and that’s kind of what Taylor talks about in the song,” she continued. “She’s like ‘look what you made me do.’ That’s the energy that we’re bringing this week.”
Her comment comes shortly after she called out negative comments about her partner on TikTok.
Posting a video of herself lip-syncing “Take it down. Take it down. Take it down. We need it gone. Take it down. That doesn’t represent me aor what we need to be doing,” she accompanied it with text that read “me when anyone talk trash about Jan” and a caption that read “We don’t tolerate Jan slander in this house!!”

Her defense of Jan comes after an episode of former pro Peta Murgatroyd’s podcast The Penthouse with Peta, where she and her husband, Maks Chmerkovskiy, discussed Jan.
“He’s learning. He’s learning slowly. It’s his first season. We have to give him grace for not understanding foxtrot technique. It’s very hard to watch,” Peta, 39, said.
“No, we do not have to give him grace. Are you kidding me?” her husband, 45, replied.
“I’m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars. There’s zero foundation, technique, qualit, understanding of the partnership. Bro, I’m getting emotional. It is absurd,” he added.
“This is unreal, how blind we have to be, and God forbid say what’s obviously there–he had no idea what [a] foxtrot is supposed to look like.”
