Angel Reese might be the busiest WNBA star in the offseason, with numerous projects in the entertainment world and her own podcast, which features many celebrities as guests. While the star will be in action as early as December, following Reese’s selection to the Team USA training camp for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, the star is regularly seen at the basketball games to support her rumored boyfriend, Wendell Carter Jr.

As she builds her brand and presence both within and beyond basketball, fans have also become increasingly curious about her personal life — especially her love life.

Wendell Carter JR.: More Than Angel Reese’s Boyfriend

Rumors began circulating after Carter attended Reese’s birthday party earlier in the year. Further fuel came when Reese posted on social media wearing Orlando Magic gear, the team Carter plays for, and shared other supportive gestures.

Later on a podcast, Reese’s NBA boyfriend, Wendell Carter Jr., confirms the relationship, which sent the basketball world into a frenzy. Carter appeared on the show “Run It Back” and referred to Reese affectionately as “my girl,” saying the two are “locked in.”

However, the Georgia-born basketball star was already a well-known personality in the league, having risen to prominence as a talented big man in high school before committing to Duke Blue Devils for college basketball. In his lone season at Duke (2017–2018), he averaged a strong stat line: about 13.5 points per game, 9.1 rebounds, 2.05 blocks, and around two assists, earning him a spot in the ACC All-Freshman Team and Second Team All-ACC honors.

While the star declared for the NBA draft in 2018, the Chicago Bulls selected him as the seventh overall pick. (Reese was also a seventh overall pick, coincidence?). In March 2021, the Orlando Magic landed him in a trade involving two future first-round picks.

Over his NBA career, Carter averages roughly 11.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting about 50.9% from the field. While the Chi-Town Barbie is raking up the double-double records, Wendell Carter also has over 110 double-double performances, highlighting his ability to impact games with his rebounding and scoring.

Angel Reese And Wendell Carter Jr. The Basketball Power Couple

While Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson have publicly accepted their relationship and are currently considered a power couple in the basketball world, the Sky forward and Magic forward could also be next in line for the title. Right now, it’s a high-profile romance.

For Reese, having a partner who understands the ins and outs of professional basketball helps in a better understanding of the relationship. Fans often shower love on their relationship and support each other’s appearances in each other’s games.
