New images from the set of the Harry Potter TV reboot have left fans puzzled about one of the cast members.

The HBO Max series, based on the popular fantasy books by controversial author J. K. Rowling, filmed a scene involving Harry Potter and the Dursleys on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The shoot took place in the quaint fishing village of Cadgwith, England, specifically at the Cadgwith Cove Inn and the beach. A scene featuring a car, fishing boats, and numerous extras was being shot by the seaside.

Pictures from set have been making rounds online, causing confusion among fans about Dominic McLaughlin, the actor portraying Harry Potter.

The 11-year-old boy was cast as the main character, but fans online are skeptical that it was him at the shoot, suggesting it might have been a body double instead.

Posting on X, one fan questioned, “is that dominic’s stunt double? ? because that is NOT him.”

Another fan queried, “Who is that? ! A stunt double? Because it’s definitely not the real Harry Potter-actor.”

Yet another exclaimed, “No way that’s who they cast for Harry.”

A fourth fan stated, “that’s Dominic’s double.”

The Daily Mail initially reported on the photos and identified Dominic as being on set. Alongside Dominic dressed as Harry, Bel Powley was spotted as Aunt Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Uncle Vernon Dursley, and Amos Kitson as cousin Vernon Dursley.

According to the publication, photographers captured a scene featuring Bel positioned in the front seat alongside Dominic and Amos seated in the rear, while water was sprayed onto the vehicle to create the illusion of rainfall.

Daniel was spotted outside the car, pacing back and forth, before eventually grabbing what looked like a broom handle wrapped in protective material.

The Harry Potter television series is currently in production for its debut season, which adapts the inaugural novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The show intends to dedicate one season to each book in the seven-part series.

Warner Bros Discovery revealed the forthcoming series on April 12, 2023.

Production officially kicked off on July 14.

The Sun reported that cast and crew members were issued an alert last month after an infestation of insects descended upon the Windsor Great Park filming location.

The notice stated, “this site is prone to ticks and horseflies – please wear suitable clothing and check for bites. Please seek advice from the on-site medic.”

Alongside Dominic, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout have been cast as Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, completing the iconic trio.

Additional cast members include Paapa Essiedu portraying Severus Snape, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.

The inaugural season of Harry Potter is scheduled to premiere in early 2027.
