STAR Search fans have expressed their frustration with Netflix for the poor picture and sound quality during the revival’s live premiere.

The beloved talent competition series was rebooted three decades after the original show ended.

On January 20th, Star Search aired its first episode of a five-week-long series showcasing performers in singing, dancing, magic, and group routines.

However, the live show didn’t go off without a few hiccups, which became apparent early on.

Fans first noticed technical issues while host Anthony Anderson introduced the show’s A-list judges, Chrissy Teigen, Jelly Roll, and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

There appeared to be several glitches affecting the picture and sound, which continued throughout the nearly hour-and-a-half-long show.

Viewers called out the frequent blunders on social media and slammed the network for not perfecting the quality before airtime.

“This #StarSearch production feels so old,” one person commented on X.

“@Netflix it’s so blurry fix it now #StarSearch,” complained another.

“There is an audio engineer that is working his last show for a while,” predicted a third.

“Star search on Netflix production and sound are unfathomably horrible,” added a fourth.

“The mics are low can’t hear the commentary,” pointed out a fifth.

“This group deserves I think it’s a production thing tho with their music.. like it’s really low!!” noted a sixth.

“The music sounds like its underwater. Anyone else?!” a seventh wondered.

Despite the technical difficulties, viewers were pleased with the modern-day voting format, which allowed fans to vote in real time via their TV remote or the Netflix app.

This differs drastically from the original show’s voting system, where telephone calls and faxes were the primary ways fans could vote for their favorite performances.

Star Search debuted in September 1983 and was hosted by Ed McMahon, with frequent judges Naomi Judd, Ben Stein, and Arsenio Hall.

The show ended in 1995 and was briefly revived in the 2000s.

Some of the biggest Hollywood stars launched their careers on the show, including Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Dave Chappelle, and Norm MacDonald.
