He went off.

The Senior Bowl has come and gone, but a particular moment won’t be soon forgotten. And it didn’t even happen in the game.

Tennessee running back Star Thomas and Oregon quarterback Bryce Boettcher will likely rue their performances, especially after they got in a scuffle during warmups. That turned out to be their biggest highlight.

The players represented the same team on the day, but got into it anyway after Bryce struck first. Thomas was making a carry when Boettcher blindsided him with a nasty hit, leaving him flattened.

The QB then extended a hand to help him up, likely realizing he was in the wrong. Star did not take the olive branch. He got up and threw a punch before smashing the ball into Boettcher’s helmet.

They proceeded to exchange blows thereafter. Fortunately, teammates broke them up.

Of course, both players should have gone about things differently here. Boettcher had no reason to lay Thomas out. It was unnecessary.

On the other hand, Thomas should have shown some restraint, given that NFL scouts were watching.

As for the Senior Bowl itself, American beat National 17-9 in a game largely dominated by defense.
