Recently, Colbert gave a response to a declaration from President Donald Trump in Davos, Switzerland, given after previously speaking at the World Economic Forum. In response to having been called and compared to a dictator at times, Trump shared, “Usually they say, ‘he’s a horrible dictator-type person.’ But sometimes you need a dictator.”

At the time, Trump continued, “It’s all based on common sense, it’s not conservative or liberal, or anything else.”

Colbert Shared That He Was ‘Going To Miss This Country’

While speaking with his Late Show studio audience, Colbert didn’t agree, responding with “Nope!” Saying, “No one ever ‘needs a dictator,’” Colbert compared the declaration to an ad asking if people wanted hemorrhoids.

Colbert continued to criticize Trump, noting that he reportedly mixed-up Greenland and Iceland during his speech. The host continued, “Dear Lord, he’s on an imperial conquest and he can’t even remember what he wants to conquer!”

Colbert then showed clips of Greenland citizens protesting the president’s plans, with them proclaiming they had no interest in joining America. As noted by a transcript shared by the World Economic Forum, Trump discussed Greenland during his original Davos speech. At one point, he expressed, “All the United States is asking for is a place called Greenland. We already had it, as a trustee, but respectfully, returned it back to Denmark not long ago.”

After this, Colbert joked that they might change their mind after learning about the “Applebee’s O-M-Cheese Burger.” He continued, “What if your cheeseburger was sliced in half in a factory accident, then started drowning in a shallow pool of cheese and the only way to save it was mouth-to-mouth yum-susitation?”

The host finished his post, noting, “I tell you folks. I’m going to miss this country.” Later, he informed his audience that Canada has reportedly started preparing for a possible U.S. invasion. He then joked, “Canada was supposed to be our escape from all this,” before asking if Heated Rivalry was next.
