Leanne Morgan, the star of the new Chuck Lorre sitcom on Netflix, wants to follow along with Leanne’s journey in a potential Season 2 of the show. Co-created by Chuck Lorre, Susan McMartin, and Leanne Morgan herself, it follows a middle-aged woman going through an unexpected split after 33 years of marriage.
Throughout its 16-episode run, the show follows Leanne grappling with the unexpected twist in her life alongside her family and sister, and finally moving on with her new boyfriend, Andrew. And Morgan has now expressed hopes for a potential Leanne Season 2. “Yes, I hope it goes a second season,” she told TV Insider in a recent interview.
“Whether it’s romantic or a job, you know, she’s tended to her family all of her life, put everybody else first, I want people to see what she’s gonna do,” she added, noting that she is looking forward to see where her journey would take her now that she is finally focusing on herself.

Leanne Morgan is not alone in wishing for Leanne Season 2, as her co-star Kristen Johnston, who plays her sister Carol, has also expressed hopes for Leanne to continue. “It’s definitely set up to hopefully continue,” she told TV Insider.
She continued,
It’s just the first season; it’s really setting everything up. If we get to go another season, I think there will be some really big payoffs that we’ve heard rumors about, but we’ll see.
Additionally, the actress also hinted at a potential crossover with other Chuck Lorre shows, describing the Mom stars Allison Janney and Jaime Pressly as ideal fits for the Netflix sitcom. “Jaime Pressly was basically built for this show. Any of those Mom gals would be amazing.”
“Or The Big Bang [Theory], I mean any of his shows, we’d take any of them,” Johnston continued. Creator and executive producer Nick Bakey has shared that the ideas are already brewing for Season 2 while noting that they are staying flexible and letting the story evolve naturally.
Premiered earlier this week, Leanne has received a positive response from critics and the audience alike. Netflix has yet to officially renew the sitcom for a second season.
Leanne‘s Creators Are Betting on Creative Freedom to Fuel a Stronger Season 2

As Leanne awaits word on a potential second season, the show’s creative team is embracing the unknown. Executive producer Nick Bakay revealed that while several unused ideas from Season 1 could be explored further, the writers are committed to starting fresh. “There’s always stuff that didn’t make Season 1… the course of the first season tees up a lot,” he said, hinting at rich territory ahead.
Series co-creator Chuck Lorre, known for hits like Mom, Two and a Half Men, and The Big Bang Theory, echoed that sentiment, emphasizing a writing process rooted in spontaneity rather than rigid planning. “When you plan so far ahead, you rob yourself of learning,” Lorre noted. “If you’ve outlined the whole thing, then there’s nothing. It kind of robs you of that freedom.”
With both cast and crew open to unexpected directions, including possible cameos from stars of Lorre’s other sitcoms, a second season could offer not just continuation, but creative expansion. And while the future of Leanne remains unconfirmed, one thing’s clear: its creators are ready to let the story lead the way.
