Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins said last month, “In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods.”
This caused spinoff rumors, but now CBS has an update for fans.
“We don’t have anything that’s going to be in development soon, but it’s a brand, a title and a show that is beloved,” CBS Studios president David Stapf told Deadline on July 11.
“We’ve got to get it right, so we’re taking our time and trying to figure it out, ‘OK, what is the next iteration of Blue Bloods?’”
Despite Blue Bloods being canceled, the final eight episodes will air this fall through December.
“We have a whole season to go where we intend to celebrate it all season long… so there’s still time for us to figure that out,” David went on.
ALL OVER
CBS announced that Blue Bloods was ending on November 20, 2023.
Deadline was the first to report the news.
Tom Selleck leads the drama and has for the past 14 seasons.
The final season consists of 18 episodes.
Tom Selleck thinks CBS should ‘come to their senses’ and continue Blue Bloods as series is ‘third highest scripted show’
When it ends this fall, Blue Bloods will have totaled 293 episodes.
The new episodes will also simultaneously stream live on Paramount+.
Along with Tom, 79, Blue Bloods also stars Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Bridget Moynahan, and Vanessa Ray.
The show follows the Reagans, who are a multi-generational family of New York City police officers.
We don’t have anything that’s going to be in development soon, but it’s a brand, a title and a show that is beloved.

‘ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS’
Fans commented on TVLine’s article about the spinoff and think the network should come renew the drama.
“They should continue Blue Bloods. This is one of the best shows aired. What a shame!” one fan wrote.
“It makes no sense that they canceled Blue Bloods in the first place,” said another.
“Please please please renew the show!” said another.
“I wish Blue Bloods would stay!!” wrote one fan.
“Leave Blue Bloods alone!! No one wants it to end!” commented one last fan.
During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning in May, Tom said that he thinks the network should come to its senses and continue on with Blue Bloods.
