Michigan has been plagued by scandals for years, dating back to last year’s cheating scandal. Last week, a new wrinkle emerged with Moore being fired for cause. It was due to him having an inappropriate relationship with a staffer.

Things would only get worse as he was detained by police shortly after his firing. He has since been charged with felony home invasion. He also got stalking, breaking and entering, or entering without breaking. Sherrone Moore allegedly went to the staffer’s residence after he was fired. Prosecutors allege he grabbed butter knives and kitchen scissors while inside. He then threatened to take his own life. It was because the staffer “ruined” Moore’s life.

Despite not being named publicly, social media has already exposed Paige Shiver as the staffer. It turns out Moore slept with the daughter of Jeff Shiver. He is a longtime executive scout for the Chicago Bears.

X account @CSOonX asked whether someone encouraged Paige Shiver to go to Michigan with her proof. It then asked whether it was done so they could fire him with cause. That would exempt the university from paying him the remainder of his contract.

As of December 1, according to USA Today’s college football salary database, Moore’s buyout was listed at $13.89 million. Because Moore was fired for cause, Michigan could be off the hook for some or all of it.

His contract at Michigan was set to pay $5.5 million in base salary. He also had an additional compensation annually through the 2029 season. This might be the last time he ever lands a job as good. Moore might take this to court to try to get whatever he can.
