However, it seems like Bassett was only joking, so 9-1-1 fans shouldn’t hold on to it as a sign of Bobby’s eventual return to the series. The two-part event that ended in Bobby’s death began with the 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 14, “Sick Day.”
In a heroic and self-sacrificing move, it was revealed that Bobby’s oxygen tank connection was blown, and he begins to suffer organ failure while trying to help rescue others from a devastating fire. Bobby knew about his tank malfunctioning but chose to keep it to himself so that Chimney (Kenneth Choi) could be saved instead.
