Something feels off in Baltimore. The Ravens started this season dreaming about confetti and Lombardi Trophies. Five weeks later, they’re sitting at 1-4, staring at the bottom of the AFC North. Suddenly, the talk isn’t about the playoffs, it’s about survival.
And now, one of the biggest names in football could be on the move. Derrick Henry, the Ravens’ $104 million man and one of the greatest running backs of his generation, might not finish the season in the same jersey.
According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, the team could soon explore trade options for the 31-year-old All-Pro.
Knox, as usual, is quite clear. “Since gashing the Buffalo Bills for 169 yards in Week 1, Henry has tallied 50 or fewer rushing yards in every game,” he wrote. The struggles have sparked concern that Baltimore’s offense isn’t built to maximize Henry’s power game, and the frustration is starting to show.
During the Week 3 loss to Detroit, cameras even caught a heated sideline moment that involved Henry.
Henry’s Performance Is Slipping

The decline started fast. After his great Week 1 performance, Henry’s form has completely gone down. He’s lost a fumble in each of the Ravens’ first three games, including one that sealed a gut-wrenching collapse against Buffalo. That streak led to one of the most emotional moments of his career, an outburst on the bench after coughing up the ball in the Detroit loss.
Henry still runs with power, but the holes just aren’t there. The Ravens’ offensive line has struggled, and the offense has looked lost without rhythm. With Lamar Jackson now sidelined by a hamstring injury, which is another point of concern for the Ravens, defenses are daring Baltimore to win without its superstar quarterback.
Henry’s two-year, $30 million extension looked like a smart bet back in May. Now, it’s starting to feel like a burden. Knox suggested, “While benching Henry wouldn’t really solve any of Baltimore’s offensive issues, moving him ahead of the trade deadline could make a ton of sense” for both sides, especially with contenders lining up for help at running back.
Henry’s record says it all, three-time All-Pro, 2020 Offensive Player of the Year, and one of the few to rush over 2,000 yards in a season. But despite all these, Baltimore’s season could already be slipping away.
If the Ravens are really up for something, the Henry era in Baltimore could end just as quickly as it began.
