With less than a month left before the official release of NBA 2K26, fans were treated to a first look at what to expect in the latest installment of the famed video game series.
Last week, 2K released a list of the latest features and innovations coming to NBA 2K26. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on Sept. 5. Players who pre-order it will get early access on Aug. 29.
The updates coming to this year’s release will include:
Player Fidelity
Arena Visuals
Arena Atmosphere
Team-Specific Features
Broadcast Voices & Late-Game Commentary
Big NBA Moments
NBA 2K26 also introduced WNBA Player Cards in MyTEAM, letting fans mix NBA and WNBA stars on one squad.
One moment from the game has been shared that shows Chicago Sky star Angel Reese and Shaq rocking the same uniform.
Here is how social media reacted:
“They’re trolling us at this point,” one person said.
“Shaq finally getting to bang bodies with Angel Reese,” a second fan stated.
“Just announce 2K27 already cus 26 looking like a L,” a third fan wrote about NBA 2K26.
“Shaq in a Sky jersey is not something I thought I’d see,” a fourth person commented.
The NBA Cup has also been fully integrated into the game to set in-season tournament matchups apart from regular-season games.

2K Games says gamers have a little while to wait before seeing the full player ratings, but the game will drop fairly soon.
2K Games announced last Wednesday that NBA 2K26 will be released on Sept. 5.
2K26 is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Sept. 5, 2025, with 7-day early access available for those who preorder the Superstar or Leave No Doubt editions of the game.
