Travis Kelce could be fined by the league after what he did on Sunday night.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is staring at the possibility of a potential fine from the NFL.

Keeping quiet after a game could be very expensive for a pro athlete, which is Kelce’s problem at the moment.

The Pro Bowl TE was in no mood to speak to the media after his team lost 20-10 to the Houston Texans at their Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. One can forgive Kelce for not wanting to discuss the painful loss, but it does come with the territory where it pertains to professional sports.

Players are obliged to entertain the press. It’s not a choice, as much as they decline to on occasion.

Kelce’s late drop summed up KC’s game on Sunday, and they now face an uphill battle to make a wild card spot. The veteran pass catcher registered a single catch for eight yards on five targets and would spill a ball, leading to an interception in the fourth quarter.

The INT brought a gasp from his fiancée, Taylor Swift, who was watching from a suite. And everyone, including Stephen A. Smith, is calling for him to retire.

Kelce did not engage reporters after the game.

According to The Athletic’s Jesse Newell, Kelce declined at least two interview requests following the loss.

“Chiefs WR Rashee Rice left the locker room before reporters entered. Tight end Travis Kelce declined interview requests twice,” Newell reported.

The 36-year-old could face punishment from the NFL following his refusal to speak to the media. As Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk points out, every player is required to talk to reporters after every game, unless they’re in concussion protocol.

Florio noted that “It’s not the first time Kelce has declined to talk this year, either after a game or during the week.”

He added that, according to league rules, all players must be available once during the buildup to each game, either at a podium or in the locker room.

Players have incurred fines whenever it gets to the point where the media covering the team complains. However, reporters don’t always make a big deal out of it.
