Grey’s Anatomy Preview: Season 21’s Explosive Finale Leaves at Least Three Doctors in Mortal Danger

The Season 21 finale of Grey’s Anatomy promises to be — wait for it — explosive. In the promo that ABC dropped ahead of Thursday’s “How Do I Live” (airing at 10/9c), little Dylan’s mom Jenna (guest star Piper Perabo) takes an operating room full of doctors and nurses hostage. “No one’s leaving,” she said, holding a lighter over an oxygen tank, “until you fix my daughter.”

We probably should have seen this dire twist coming. The long-running medical drama, which has already been renewed for Season 22, had been a pressure cooker ever since Dylan went under the knife to treat the cavernous angioma that threatened to shorten her life. She awakened right as rain, then her condition deteriorated — fast. She went from being able to communicate only by blinking to not being able to communicate at all.

Amelia, who’d been astonished that she’d been able to successfully perform the surgery that even her late brother Derek couldn’t, tried to keep the faith. Sometimes, she theorized, things get worse before they get better. Welp, they don’t get much worse than this. In the clip, she’s cornered by Jenna along with Simone, Lucas, BokHee and other medical personnel.
