Hilaria Baldwin has taken a break from speaking about her Dancing With The Stars experience to share a devastating update with fans.

The 41-year-old took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal her dog Dama has died. Hilaria, who is married to Alec Baldwin, wrote, “Rest in peace, sweet Dama.”

She continued, “You brought so much joy to our lives…you were that dog that slept on my pregnant belly. Your life was long and happy.” Hilaria’s tragic news comes after her husband was seen watching her performance on DWTS.

Wrapping up her post, Hilaria said, “I know you are running though fields and eating all the cookies you want. We are sad but grateful that we had you in our lives.”

She also shared a carousel of pictures of Dama. The first snap showed Alec cuddling up to their dog, while another image featured Hilaria sweetly holding Dama.

Fans shared messages of support in the comments, with one person writing, “Aww little Dama- sending you and family love and hugs- I know how hard it is to lose a pet.”

“So sorry. Rest easy puppy,” another person shared as a third fan added, “Ohhh what a cutie… so very sorry for your loss… sending lots of love…”

Animal rights group PETA also offered their condolences, commenting, “We were so very sad to hear about Dama’s passing. Sending love and condolences to your whole family.”

Hilaria’s family tragedy comes as she is currently competing on Dancing With The Stars, having been paired up with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.

Hilaria has admitted she sometimes finds it “uncomfortable” competing on the show. “Some of it is like visiting a familiar friend when you’re older, and you’ve had a lot of children, and broken some bones, if you can relate to that,” she explained to People Magazine.

The TV star added, “But also, some of it is brand new. Gleb Savchenko, is asking me to dance on a much higher level than I ever danced.”

Hilaria said she is trying to be more independent on the dancefloor and admitted, “It’s uncomfortable and embarrassing sometimes.” However, she said she knew what she was signing up for when she agreed to go on the show.

“I keep on reminding myself: I didn’t sign up for this to be comfortable. I signed up for this to do hard things and to be brave,” Hilaria shared.
