In a recent post on social media, Ty Pennington shared that he had just celebrated a recent milestone. However, what was meant to be a happy occasion didn’t go as planned. With the news, the Rock the Block star called on fans for prayers on behalf on someone very dear to him.

Ty Pennington Shared About A Recent Emergency During What Should Have Been A Time To Celebrate

Pennington is known for his work in various fields. The Atlanta native’s been an artist, carpenter, actor, and model, but many know him best as the host of various TV shows.

This includes TLC’s Trading Spaces and ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. More recently, back in 2021, Pennington became the host of HGTV’s Rock The Block.

In a recent post on Instagram, Pennington shared that he just celebrated his birthday. However, it didn’t turn out to be a joyous occasion this year, noting, “Welp, I made it to 61 today… and it wasn’t quite the birthday weekend we had planned.”

Pennington shared that his beloved dog, Dory, recently had a medical emergency. He shared, “Spent several hours at the emergency vet yesterday. Instead of birthday wishes I’m gonna be selfish for a moment and ask that you send Dory some healing thoughts and prayers.”

The share continued, “This little girl is dealing with a bad back and we’re really hoping she doesn’t need a second surgery. I love her more than anything, she’s my #souldog as they say.”

Quite A Few Big Names Commented On Ty Pennington’s Recent Share

In the photo, Ty could be seen embracing his furry friend as she sat in his lap. The second photo showed him giving the much-loved pooch a kiss on the head.

In a previous post, Ty shared that he had adopted Dory through PetSmart Charities. Back in May, he shared a photo of Dory and his other pup, Phoebe, to celebrate National Rescue Dog Day.

With the recent post, fans have been sending their love and offering prayers to Dory. In addition, many fans also made sure to still wish Pennington a happy birthday in spite of the bad news.

For example, Jenny Marrs of Fixer to Fabulous fame even shared, “Happy birthday, Ty! Praying for your sweet Dory!” Dave Marrs also wrote, “Happy birthday, buddy. Prayers for Dory.”

HGTV and Food Network alum Taniya Nayak also wrote, “Sending lots of love her way,” complete with a heart emoji. Some other comments included:

“Sending sweet Dory lots of love, positive energy and strength. Wishing you a happy birthday.”
“Aww, I’m sorry to read this. Sending some good vibes.”
“Sending positive energy to Dory! Happy birthday.”
“I know exactly how you feel about your soul dog. I have one too. Sending healing prayers for Dory.”
